UCS ANNUAL CNY POTLUCK
February 2, 2019
Union Chinese School of Westfield started celebrating Chinese New Year "Year of the PIG", by bringing our whole community together to participate in the annual UCS Potluck. Families shared various dishes from Asian to American. All the food was delicious and very thoughtful! UCS had our very popular raffle which was made possible by various donations from national and local shops within the surrounding areas. Special thanks to Whole Foods, Limani Seafood Grill, Trader Joe’s, Patricia and Paul and Robert Anthony Jewelers for your continuous support. This event gave us the opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. Without all the parent volunteers’ hard work, it would not be possible. Thank you!!!!

新年快樂 Xīnnián kuàilè! Happy New Year!
What a UCS show!!! We continued celebrating Chinese New Year "Year of the Rabbit"! There was such a buzz in the air and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The classes were incredibly creative. This year, we had shadow play, Chinese musical, Chinese rap and a Lion Dance to bring in the Year of the Rabbit. The teachers did a wonderful job bringing the performances to fruition.

UCS BRINGS HOME SEVEN TROPHIES AT CACA'S ANNUAL SPEECH CONTEST
December 8, 2018
This Saturday, ten UCS students competed in the annual Chinese American Cultural Association speech contest. A total of five schools attended this event. The students won seven trophies, four of them being first place. UCS is proud to be able to provide a platform for all students to excel in public speaking. Ultimately, the success was attributed to the joint effort from students, parents and teachers.
Special acknowledgement to Brandon Wright, an American entrant in the middle-aged group; Brandon spoke fluent Chinese and defeated eight Chinese-heritage participants in the same group to win the 1st place trophy.

新年快樂 Xīnnián kuàilè! Happy New Year!

ANNUAL UNION CHINESE SCHOOL SPEECH CONTEST FINALS
November 17, 2018
Excitement was in the air at Union Chinese School on November 17th, 2018! The annual UCS Speech Contest Finals took place where students showcased their speeches, delivering them with passion. This was our 40th annual speech contest, a milestone in our community. We celebrated our 40th birthday with many former principals and teachers. Special thanks to all of the judges and volunteers for your hard work.
Every student who is able to deliver a good speech using Mandarin Chinese is a winner. We are all very proud to be part of this community. The top two contestants will represent UCS in competing at the CACA Speech Contest on 12/1 at Edison Chinese School. Good luck to all of you!

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

On Saturday, June 9th, Union Chinese School had their End of Year Celebration. It was great to see our community come together and support each other. We honored 2 graduates and acknowledged many volunteers for their outstanding efforts this past year. Various students received certificates for excellence and perfect attendance.
Union Chinese School would like to wish our community a great summer!! We look forward in seeing everyone back on Saturday, September 8th, 2018.

Union Chinese School of Westfield continued celebrating Chinese New Year "Year of the Dog", by bringing our whole community together to participate in the annual UCS Potluck. Families shared various dishes from Asia to America. All the food was very yummy and delicious! A couple of our classes entertained us with an exciting traditional Lion Dance. We had the pleasure of having an Ehru musician play traditional music. Lastly, UCS had our very popular raffle which was made possible by various donations from National to local shops within the surrounding areas. This event gave us the opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. This event was made possible by the hard work from all our parent volunteers. Thank you!!!!

UCS BRINGS HOME MANY TROPHIES AT CACA'S ANNUAL SPEECH CONTEST
Excitement was in the air at Union Chinese School on November 18th, 2017! The annual UCS Speech Contest Finals took place where students showcased their speeches and delivered them with passion. The topic choices were “My favorite activity or Snow day”. It was very entertaining for everyone. Congratulations to all the winners! Please find the results below. The following week 12 students had represented UCS to compete in CACA speech contest at the Murray Hill Chinese school.
A special thanks to the score team, Jeff, Blossom and Jane for your dedication in making the final result available to UCS community during the event.. Also, a special acknowledgement needs to be made to Chung Kun, Eleanor, Jiaxing, Adrian, Christine, Angela, Haidy, Wei, Norma, Michael and Colby for facilitating the entire event as well as Guest Volunteer Joe Chou for sound control management and stage assistance. We are all very proud to be part of this community.
